This seawall retains and avoids the wave’s vitality and stops disintegration. Inhabitants here compensation additional rates to pay for the seawall to be kept up. In June, 2003 the KCDC did hill rebuilding along five private Manly St properties. Marilyn Glennon said â€Å"It looks so green and all around molded. The entire sea shore should look delightful like this†(9). Anyway inside this gathering Susan Walker, who claims a sea shore front property on Manly St, imagines that the KCDC should disregard the sea shore and let nature that its course, in spite of her property and house being in danger of being washed into the ocean. (4) Restrict Coastal Erosion Management-Local Residents: Some neighborhood inhabitants contradict seaside disintegration the board. This is on the grounds that they need to pay higher rates to pay for measures to stop disintegration. For instance individuals that live in Raumati South need to pay higher rates to keep up the seawall, $65,000 every year (5), in spite of not in any event, being influenced by the seawall. What's more, in view of this it implies individuals contradict coast disintegration the board measures and let nature run its course. Miss Meikle said in a gathering in class that â€Å"Personally I don't care for paying additional rates to ensure different people’s properties†. Most nearby inhabitants restrict coast disintegration the board because of the expansion in rates, for instance in June, 2003 the KCDC completed rise rebuilding along five private Manly St properties at an expense of $24,267 of Paraparaumu ratepayers money(9). Ratepayers additionally need to pay â€Å"hundreds of thousands of dollars†(11) to acquire sand to supplant what is being washed away â€Å" ‘three or four’ occasions a year†(11). The court found that the proposition was non-agreeing, visual and scene impacts were critical. KEA didn't give data on natural impacts of earthworks and roading and at long last lost the legal dispute. Despite the fact that KEA wants assurance of the beach front condition, they don't care for ‘hard’ designing alternative and are available to ‘soft’ choices, similar to a no assemble zone. Arrangements #1: Option 1 - Let nature run its course, and don't place in measures to stop seaside disintegration and let the sea shore be in balance.

Killing and non-killing religions Essays

Slaughtering and non-murdering religions Essays Slaughtering and non-murdering religions Essay Slaughtering and non-murdering religions Essay Presentation: In the present occasions, the universe is powerless against fear attacks. A portion of these psychological militant act exercises are ever connected with most extreme otherworldly associations. Take for case, the ISIS, a frenzy association runing in Iraq and Syria ( Armstrong, 2014 ) . This frenzy bunch legitimizes the fierce demise of non-Muslims on trust. They wrongly accept that the Quran gives them approval to murder and damage any individual who is non rehearsing Islam. This paper looks to elucidate the build of murdering and non-executing beliefs. It more distant tries to put, which of these is related with present day twenty-four hours fear based oppressor act. This paper takes a base that killing beliefs are to a great extent connected with present day twenty-four hours fear based oppressor act. Slaughtering and Non Killing Religions: Nons of such beliefs incorporate Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, and so forth ( Docker, 2008 ) . These are viewed as non-murdering religions, in light of the fact that their directions advocator against power. Take for case in Christianity, the book of scriptures Teachs that if an individual hits you on one cheek, so give him another cheek to hit. This implies a Christian ought to non make any retaliatory strides, for example, paying power with power ( Docker, 2008 ) . Slaughtering religions on the different manus advocator for the riddance of anyone who conflicts with its offer. An outline incorporates a confidence that underpins the killing or savage passing of individuals, who do non attribute to its qualities ( Pallmeyer, 2003 ) . Contention exists on whether Islam is an outline of a murdering confidence or non. This is on the grounds that there have been various readings of the guidelines of Islam. One perusing is of the interest to execute anyone who does non design Islam. Different manus, other Islamic bookmans contend this is non right. This is on the grounds that Islam looks to envelop different beliefs ( Docker, 2008 ) . Be that as it may, this is an issue of contention. More or less, while most Muslims position confidence and ethical quality as an organization of achieving harmony, not many of them consider viciousness to be an office of achieving it. The gathering position jihadists as a variation of Islam that offers minimal more than enslavement, profound constabulary, hidden grown-up females, and disclaimer of present day logical control. Contrasts Christians ( Nonkilling Religion ) accept that God sent Christ to amend the divergences of the Jews. Muslims on another manus believe that God sent Prophet Mohammed, his finishing up prophesier, to redress the divergences of the Christians. They accept that Christianity is non a genuine portrayal of the guidelines of God ( Docker, 2008 ) . For representation, the two withdraw on the utilization of power to disseminate their confidence. For case, one of the guidelines of Christianity is that he who lives by the cutting edge, will other than expire by the sharp edge. This is an objection to power, and it is looking to propel a quiet conjunction among each other. The Quran Teachs that any individual who attempts to go forward the confidence ought to be rebuffed. By taking a gander at these realities, it is conceivable to indicate that Christianity and Islam are two extremely various religions, and they proliferate various qualities and convictions. Buddhism and Hinduism are other non-slaughtering religions ( Pallmeyer, 2003 ) . These religions trust in a quiet concurrence among each other. Moreover, Buddhism accepts that to achieve extreme harmony, there is an interest of a man to perpetually bite over. Hinduism puts stock in the being of numerous Gods, and goddesses. On this reality, this confidence grasps different religions, and their convictions. This is unsatisfactory in Islam. Islam does non digest some other confidence, and they accept that no God exists, aside from their God, who is called Allah. It is a direct result of this reality that Islamic fanatics are eager to slaughter, for Allah ( Pallmeyer, 2003 ) . The brutal advocation of Islamic convictions is alluded to as Jihad. Jihad alludes to an activity planned for practicing endeavor for purposes of achieving a pined for result. Muslims for the most part battle Jihad on two degrees. The main degree, is the war against Satanic accusals, destitution, and sicknesses ( Pallmeyer, 2003 ) . The second Jihad is battled against any person who is seen as going contrary to the guidelines and ways of thinking of Islam. Non-murdering beliefs do non back up a power, nor do they hold any fierce political directions, for example, jehad. Islam focuses on that any individual who does non change over to Islam, ought to be murdered, or oppressed. The other non-slaughtering religions do non hold these commissariats ( Pallmeyer, 2003 ) . For them, the individuals who do non hold with their precepts are neer killed or executed. In this position, we can value the way that these two religions do differentiate in tremendous stairss. While the previous proliferates for murdering the Rebels or doing them slaves, the last central focuses on resilience and harmony. They do these dependent on Koran A ; apos ; s Allah ways of thinking. In add-on, in occasion a Muslim sibling gets into the way of killing the non-Muslims, Islam allows that such a man is killed. They can go into the degrees of leveling a region to finish off rapscallion ( Pallmeyer, 2003 ) . In this sense, Islam respects these kinds of brutal passings as devotion, and it sees nil inaccurate with it. For representation, the word Boko Haram implies that Western Education is evil. This is an otherworldly fanatic gathering that is found in Northern Nigeria and it advocates for the Islamization of Nigeria. In the pursuit of their end, they consumed schools, kidnaped 100s of children, and left causalities totaling in 1000s. Their speculated joins with the al-Qaida in the Maghreb and al-Shabaab in Somalia has made Boko Haram an existent danger according to U.S national security. The other non-executing religions calls for cherishing your neighbors as you love you. So the impression of executing to determine something is viewed as impropriety in these signifiers of religions. In contrasting with Christianity, Islam does non offer a part about adoration, 1 Corinthians 13.There exist no tale of Good Samaritan ( Docker, 2008 ) . The call to individual sacredness doesn A ; apos ; Ts exist entirely. There is no expectation for individual recovery by way of impeccant relinquish only as Jesus did upon Calvary. The expectation of imperishable joyous beyond words in blessed Eden is non-existent ( Ellens, 2004 ) . The relinquish of puting down the life of one individual is non present in Islam. Then again, it is slaughtering others that will permit you infer unendingness ( Docker, 2008 ) . The adoration for a neighbor is missing in total among the slaughtering beliefs. This is seen among the Boko Haram activists. This individuals execute, with the explanation that they are suggesting for the acknowledgment of Islamic principles. Prophet Mohammed was a political pioneer, and the Koran had a lot to state about how to frame a very much run society in a mode that advances harmony and justness. The two make it valid by expressing that, cutting edge twenty-four hours Muslims discover it extremely ridiculous to separate confidence from Government. It asks the request, for what reason would human law be over the statute of God. It is on this benchmark that we find such a large number of fanatics lifting up to counter specialists powers in all method of fiendish slaughter plans ( Docker, 2008 ) . They do non accept about who they may be seting at serious risk, however their boss point of convergence is narrow-mindedness. In other universe beliefs, the opposite is extremely clear, Killing is non permitted and is respected extremely malicious. Such Acts of the Apostless draw in punishments runing from ever-enduring objection and anguish. In these religions, there is the division of confidence and specialists developmen ts ( Docker, 2008 ) . The blessed book of Muslims is the Koran. It is a condensation of God A ; apos ; s Torahs which were uncovered to Mohammed.. Mohammed is regarded by most Muslims as a prophesier of God and non as an expansion of God. Jesus in His plants here on Earth professed to be God. Mohammed was a human designated by God to declare the message of harmony and illumination and in this sense ; he had no otherworldly powers ( Ellens, 2004 ) . To Christianity, it is in opposition to these. Jesus in his service among the Jews did numerous wonders that finished into extremely numerous individuals following His way of thinking. This incorporates raising the dead, repairing the evil, and so forth. For Him, numerous individuals trusted in imperishable joyous beyond words in heavenly Eden since He was an expansion of God Himself. Current Terrorism Present day twenty-four hours fear monger act is significantly connected with killing beliefs. Take for outline, Islam. Most psychological oppressor act bunches that develop, typically partner themselves with Islam. A representation is Al-Qaeda, whose pioneers called for Jihad, against the Americans and the Israeli inclusions ( Ellens, 2004 ) . This is on the grounds that they accepted that America and Israel were neutralizing the contributions of Islam. The Quran urges Muslims to take detainees during instances of war ( Armstrong, 2014 ) . This can just go on when a jehad is announced. This is the ground why most frenzy bunches as a rule refer to a Jihad, when occupied with fear based oppressor act exercises. It may be genuine hypothetically, however present day twenty-four hours fear monger act is evident on the verses from Koran like the one above. A bunch of accents are on the jehad as organizations of seeing the awesome life before us. In this regard, radicals like the al-Qaeda, al-Shabab and the Boko Haram of Nigeria willingly volunteer to order authoritiess by either seizing planes, kids or just murdering using bombs ( Armstrong, 2014 ) . What is important to them is practicing fear and nervousness among guiltless residents at the disbursal of their childish undertakings. There is an extremely solid relationship between current

Education Through Scaling and Reinforcement Through Shape and Scale

Education Through Scaling and Reinforcement Through Shape and ScaleOperant Conditioning Essay Examples: Scaling, Scaling. There are several ways in which one can teach the child how to use his or her own thought processes to create learning opportunities on the fly. I will focus on two important behaviors: (a) Learner 'Loss' and (b) 'I'm Learner Action.'The Classical Conditioning is most important to train the learner as a subject for inquiry and experimentation. To do this, children need to be able to question everything, including themselves. We're working to make this happen on the child's level of learning, not on their parents' or teachers'. This can be done through Reinforcement and Punishment. However, it's also a task of a parent to continually help develop and teach this behavior so that the child can grow into a self-assured adult. Here's a form of simple reinforcement which we use in everyday situations with our children: praising them for being attentive and active. These are tasks which don't require much supervision, but which will continue to develop the child's 'problem solving' skills.Give your child an opportunity to help you open a jar. When he or she opens the jar, then praise them. Use this kind of Reinforcement when they've failed in a task and it needs a little more work.In order to start exploring this kind of Reinforcement with your child, ask your child to take a picture with his/her camera. Use the word 'picture' throughout the picture, and turn the shutter up on the camera. The child is going to be very excited about taking this picture, so make sure you get it right the first time. Ask for a picture and have the child hold the camera to the shutter for you, just like you'holding the phone. It is really easy to begin using operant conditioning as a teaching tool in your home. Practice with your child by starting with simple exercises like these and then moving on to more complex types of learning. When it comes to using operant conditi oning in education, all that matters is that the learner learns something and begins to build positive behaviors for themselves. For some students, this will take the form of a task, and others will find that it will lead to further achievement in school. If your child has trouble with observation skills, then teach them other skills instead. Consider teaching observation skills along with the understanding of reinforcement and correction, so that they learn about both at the same time. A child who understands how to follow directions, at the same time, can be taught to follow the words of the teacher as well. There are many ways in which to teach children about operant conditioning through shaping and in the classroom. We're interested in finding ways to help our children to be self-sufficient, strong learners, and we want them to be doing these things on their own and with ease.

Euthanasia Should Not Be Legalized - 1353 Words

Euthanasia is a term derived from the Greek words ‘eu’ and ‘thanatos’, which typically translates to an ‘easy’ or ‘gentle’ death. It is defined as the intentional speeding up of the death of an individual based on terminal medical circumstances (Jonsen, Siegler et al, 2002). It is a heavily debated topic, as it involves disputes over the extent of individual autonomy, and thus the rights that stem from that autonomy; and the ethical repercussions that arise from the belief that there is a universal sanctity of human life. The ethics can be divided into three fundamental bases: ethical, philosophical, and legal. In what follows, I will distinguish between the different dimensions of euthanasia, evaluate both sides of the act in terms of†¦show more content†¦Sanctity of life is predominant in the case of euthanasia, as it states that one should never intentionally end the life of another, with the exceptions of self-defence a nd/or war. Many religions prohibit euthanasia, for instance, Roman Catholics view the act as morally wrong due to the teachings of the Decalogue, ‘thou shalt not kill’ (Exodus 20:13 (KJV)). Furthermore, the Vatican’s Declaration on Euthanasia states in part, ‘[n]o one can make an attempt on the life of an innocent person without opposing God s love for that person, without violating a fundamental right, and therefore without committing a crime of the utmost sin’ (Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, 1980). The claim is generally based upon the notion of the sacredness of human life, as many religious traditions maintain that God created mankind in his own image, subsequently believing that person is a representation of God (Dworkin 1994). In terms of ethics concerning the physicians, the Hippocratic Oath is of primary importance. One of the main arguments against the legalisation of euthanasia is that it is in conflict with the oath that the majority of physicians around the world have sworn to uphold. The oath dictates that a doctor should not deliberately harm their patients, and thus they should not aid them in quickening their death, ‘I

Cory 1/31/2013 In the early stages of the development of complex societies, many different factors had a powerful impact on the way the societies developed. In some areas of the world, religion was the primary force that led to the creation of organized societies. They developed a very complex writing system not only to keep commercial records, but also to record their spiritual beliefs and the history of their empire. Harkhuf used it to document his ex ploration of Nubia and opening of trade routes there, showing the high levels of complexity that each of those societies had risen to[9]. Both the African and Mesopotamian civilizations developed out of small farming communities who practiced small-scale agriculture. In both areas, advances in agriculture led to increased populations living in densely-populated cities, which allowed the people to divide labor and specialize in different things. The division of labor led to advancement in almost every area: from engineering and agriculture to art and, especially, the political organizations that organized the whole society and made all of those things possible. Both civilizations developed writing systems, originally developed to keep records, but soon used to express imaginations, beliefs, and to write down the histories of their nations. While Mesopotamian cultures were organized around the complex building projects needed to irrigate their fields, societies in the Nile River ha d other pressures. What is the good life Free Essays

The article I have selected to summarize for this assignment is titled as ‘The Secret to Happiness’ by David Myers . This article discusses about the beauty and secret to a happy good life. It discusses the goodness of life from different aspects. We will write a custom essay sample on What is the good life? or any similar topic only for you Order Now It suggests that people from different genre ought to think differently about the curve of life and its happiness. According to a survey materialism brings much content and happiness in an individual’s life and a greater amount of people wish they were rich, which proves that money brings happiness to most. Thus suggesting that the source of good life recedes before an individual as he wishes to pursue. The article by David Myers speaks about the twentieth century with reference to people, their lives, and what made them a happier individual: the more rich a person is the more content he is in his life compared to the person who is poor and cannot fulfill his needs. Moreover, a survey was done with different classes of people which included the rich and poor, the young and the old, the children and adults and all were asked to tell their happiest period of life that they would never forget. More than 75% of the answers were materialistic happiness that is they were the most happy when they bought a new car, or a new home, when they found a new job. These were few answers that bought them life lasting satisfaction. Furthermore, writer uses a term known as buyer’s remorse used to describe the let down which occurred purchasing something that doesn’t provide satisfaction was expected off. Therefore, the secret to happiness for long lasting satisfaction is materialism. Though, many may not agree to the fact but it is true that materialism has held its importance in our life that much that it has become a secret of happiness. My Evaluation: What is a good life? A mother says that a good life is to see her children prosper; a father says that a good life is when he’d be able to be the strong man who could support his family; a student would say that a good life is to attain and be a top graded student; a beggar would say that it would be when he’d be able to get bread for his living; a prisoner would say that a good life is when he’ll be a freeman and when a lover is asked the same question as to what is a good life, he would say that a good life is to just have a glimpse of his love of life. Therefore a good life may be different to different people but all we need to do is to be practical and study carefully the options that we are given and choosing the best option among them. A good life is one that is spent in a high pursuit; a life where the energy of love is given most importance than any energy of matter. Thus, to spit away the hatred through the entrance of forgiveness, revealed through love would transform life into a life that is called a good life. A good life can never be spent around until the scent of love and charm may not be imbued in all, with all the strength and passion. We can harness the energy of the winds, the seas, and the sun. But the day a man learns the energy of love, that will be as important as the discovery of fire; and then one will realize what is meant by a good life. A good life is a life of a soldier. The pride and the passion with which a soldier walks with the soul content can’t actually be put to words. The soldier-walks upright and passes his nights waking only because the other million people there are sleeping only because that one soldier wakes and in the war zone hugs all the bullets as his medals. He is happy with all what life has given to him. His firm belief is that the truth or secret of happiness is serving his nation, defending its honor, safeguarding people and sacrificing his life for what he holds most dear to his heart which is his motherland. Thus, he lives and dies as a person with good life. But there also live people who have everything they have in life, everything they want, the women they love, the children, the career, the kind of freedom that is the envy of all friends, the travel, the honors, the pleasure and the praise. But then even their lives are missing something. These are the people who turn into the true hunters of a good life. They are always in search of what the true meaning of happiness is and this pursuit takes up most of their lives. The constant hunger or the dissatisfaction, despite of having everything they require, in them doesn’t let them rest and forces them to go beyond the normal realms to find the thing that will provide them with contentment, satisfaction and happiness. Thus a good life is the beginning of learning about the three most important things in life. First, as soon as people decide to confront a problem, they realize that they are far more capable then they thought they were. Second, all energy and all the knowledge came from the same unknown source that we usually call the God. All one has to do is to believe in the paths, to honor what one wishes to do and to honor that energy. To connect up with it every day, to allow oneself to be guided by the signs and to learn by doing and not by thinking about doing is what is important for the person. And third may lie on the observation that a good life is considered to be worse due to the sufferings we face. One should always remember that no one is alone in their troubles; there is always someone else thinking, rejoicing or suffering in the same way and that gives us strength to confront the challenge before us, to fight by moving the heavens and the earth to make a good life. A good life is always confronted by sufferings but in order to turn out those sufferings one must learn that if there is suffering then its best to accept it, because it won’t go away just because you pretend it’s not there. If there is joy then it is best to accept it too, even though you are afraid it might end one day. Some people can only relate life through sacrifice and renunciation. Some people can only feel part of humanity when they think they are happy and leading a good life. But a good life is good when a person is self satisfied. Nothing in the world can replace this one factor which is the only key to a better life. A good life may further be best analyzed by this Mongolian myth in which there are two characters. A doe and a wild dog that come together, two beings are very different natures: in the wild, the dog would normally kill the deer for food. In the Mongolian myth they both understand that they each need the qualities of the other if they are to survive in a hostile world and that they should, therefore join forces. To do this they must first learn to love. And in order to love they must cease to be who they are, otherwise they will never be able to live together. With the passing of time, the wild dog comes to accept that his instinct, always focused on the struggle to survive, now serves a grater purpose; finding someone who he can rebuild the world, who he can pass his life which is termed as not life itself as alone but rather a good life. Thus in all accordance life is what we choose to be, whether alone or with people we love, happy or unhappy, satisfied or unsatisfied. The key to it is to decide what we actually want and with that self actualization comes the true essence and meaning of happiness. How to cite What is the good life?, Papers

A Perky Way to Productivity

A Perky Way to Productivity 1.One of the key responsibilities of human resource management in any organization is to keep the employees happy and contended. Most employees are never always motivated by the paychecks but rather by the perks awarded alongside the paychecks. Acceptance and appreciation greatly boost the employee morale. This in return leads to reduced turnover rates as well as cutting down hiring costs. Thus, giving perks to employees will also help to create employee security.Advertising We will write a custom case study sample on A Perky Way to Productivity specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More For instance, an employee will not perform to perfection if he or she is continuously distracted by concerns of child care, medical responsibilities, and entertainment needs, among other domestic responsibilities. Any effort in line with providing solutions to these concerns will not only relieve the employees of their worries but make it look like they are wel l taken care of. This will help keep the employees committed to their duties and responsibilities. The end result will be reduced chances of employees seeking appointments elsewhere even if the current appointment could be earning less. Giving employees perks as incentives alongside their salary will increase employee confidence and loyalty to the organization, boost the working morale and create a mutually interactive and friendly working environment for the employees. This will result in better performance of the organization towards its objective achievement. 2. Genentech and Zappos are two examples of companies using employee perks as motivating tools for their employees. Genentech Company has gone an extra mile in its concern for employee treatments. Retirement and health care allowances are considered ordinary traditional benefits that are given by any sensible company to its employees. Genentech has done something extraordinary in order to stand out in terms of employee treat ment by offering childcare during the day, free snacks, pet insurance, mothers nursing services and flexible scheduling among others. These are exceptional perks that are not offered by other companies. Thus, most employees of Genentech will resist the urge to seek employment elsewhere lest they forego these extraordinary perks. On the other hand, Zappos has invested greatly in employee bonding, fostering a team building culture and interactive atmosphere amongst its employees. It offers more lucrative social welfare perks including; pajama parties, regular happy hours and nap rooms to its fun loving employees to ensure an always jovial and happy employee fraternity. Therefore, it becomes virtually hard for an employee to ditch such perks for another company offering hefty paychecks but without such allowances. In a harsh economy that pauses huge and competitive expenses in hiring employees, the two companies have successfully won their employees’ trust and in the process ret aining them, hence resulting in lower turnover rates as well as controlled wage bills.Advertising Looking for case study on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More 3. The two cases of employee treatment depicted by Genentech and Zappos can be adopted by any other company that seeks to lower its turnover rates without necessarily offering hefty paychecks to its employees. An organization that has successfully retained its quality employees finds it easy to attain its organizational goals. The only way to do this as practiced by most companies, is by upwardly revising the employees’ paychecks. Genentech and Zappos offer alternative approaches that will see companies retain their quality employees and still survive the harsh economies. The incentives offered by the two companies to their employees, are spread equally across the whole employee fraternity without discrimination. This is cheaper for the company in the long run as compared to scenarios where each individual employee would have their paycheck increased. Hence, such incentives can still be used by other companies to boost their employee morale.

Writing Style Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Writing Style - Research Paper Example For me, the writing process involves several challenges. The first one is organizing ideas. I am lucky to have a teacher in my primary years who emphasized the importance of organization in writing. That teacher taught me that in every composition I make, I should take the initial step of organizing my ideas. I could still remember the exercises we had on outlining, with the main topics and subtopics organized under some roman numerals and letters. This training in writing has been very valuable to me because it makes writing easy. An organized essay is easier to read and understand. In addition, teachers appreciate an organized essay with the main ideas carefully laid out in separate paragraphs. As I move along in schooling, I learned about the challenge of composing a thesis statement. I believe that training students to make plausible thesis statements should be an important aim of Writing teachers. Teaching students to make thesis statements will enable them to achieve emphasis and organization. Identifying the thesis statement goes along with outlining. The thesis statement serves as the guide in expounding a topic and composing paragraphs to make up the essay. In my experience, establishing the thesis statement allows me to expound on the topic without going beyond it. Nevertheless, I still have to improve the way I construct a thesis statement and introduce it in the first part of my composition. The next challenge is expounding ideas. Some people find it easy to expound ideas on any topic. Maybe they are gifted with a lot of information to write about. In my case, I find expounding ideas easy when I am interested in the topic. Personal experience, home decorating, gardening, and entrepreneurship are some topics I find easier to write about, whereas sports, statistics, and environmental issues are some of my waterloos. Academic writing, unlike other forms of writing, also challenges me to use outside sources.

Arabic spring - Essay Example The effort to lead authoritarian to enhance their regional influence is not effective because of different reasons. Various regimes have a different view on the opportunities and constrains created by Arabic Spring, the influence may require medication latter, their effort may end up shaping the newly Arabs elected governments. About ten years before the rise of Arab Spring, there was the rise in global authoritarianism with an attempt of Arab autocracies to adopt their own ruling to new domestic and regional challenges. The wide implications of authoritarian collective action lead to Arabic Spring. In analyzing their effect, we stress on two related dynamics, which include the way in which powerful authoritarian regimes work as a team to advance collective interests in sustaining or consolidating institutional and strategic alternative to the western democracy. Secondly is their attempt use the Arab Spring as a mobilization tool to gain regional support, democratic powers such as th at witnessed in Turkey, Brazil, South Africa, among other nations. With their sympathetic critiques of western economy and their geographical strategic dominance, these states are seen as the global authoritarians as potential allies might enlist that in efforts to redefine regional security and political structure, thus threatening the United States aim of advancing their interest. Globalization is a process where in different fields, the world is working together as a single society, marked by common institution, organizations, and shared culture of consciousness.

She describes swinging on the clothes line is like flying. The ending lines ‘†¦it is unlikely the washing line could support me this time. There are too many things tying me to the ground’ means that she is not a care free child anymore and that she has responsibilities and priorities to take care of. Kaplan university science Essay

This assignment concerning the differences between reputable source and questionable sources is in regards to weight loss programs. There are so many different programs available to the public. Unfortunately they are often from a questionable source consisting magic pills and supplements and marketed as the recommendations of a seemingly practicing physician who has conducted scientific research of sorts that will back up his claims. Many times it is stated or at least implied that there is absolutely no necessary change in diet or lifestyle needed. I think this makes their products a best-seller because it feeds into the fears and insecurities of the customer as well as the fantasy of something for nothing. For example, there is a new fad of weight supplements by ’Dr. Oz’. â€Å"Oprah and Other Celebrates Lose 4lbs a Week of BellyFat With This Secret That Readers Can Try Now!†¦According to Dr. Travis Stork, Garcenia Lean Extreme works in more than one way. The fi rst way is it goes in and causes the body to burn glucose, or sugar, and burn fat mainly in the liver. The second way, the most important way, is it slows the release of sugar into the bloodstream. So, when you don’t have sugar building up because sugar turns to fat. When the two combine together, you get this synergistic effect that basically burns and blocks and stops fat, but it is also natural and safe†. (Dr. Oz n.d.) The advertisement goes on further to provide quotes from seemingly satisfied customers whom boast of unprecedented weight loss in record breaking time without changing a single thing in their daily routine or diet. However, there are medical weight loss programs which are the result of legitimate and peer reviewed research. These programs offer no magic pills or supplements but do provide tested and proven facts concerning healthy and sustainable weight loss induced by a routine exercise regimen, significant reduction in calorie intake, and dramatic lifestyle changes. None of which is by any means easy. But, this is the program that can confidently guarantee amazing weight loss results and deliver. For example, â€Å"Specialist dietitians competent in Counterweight Programme delivery conducted two four-hour training sessions and a further 3 hour sessions after 6 months to consolidate the initial training.

The Effects of Symbolism in Kate Chopin’s Writings Essay

Critics know Kate Chopin for her regionalist short stories and her often-radical depiction of sexuality in her work. She was able to write very radically and without any qualms because of the influence of her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. All three were widows and independent women, which caused Katherine O’Flaherty, born in 1851, to grow up as a smart and strong woman. Most of the women she wrote about in her stories also shared these characteristics. After she graduated at seventeen, she spent the next two years as the â€Å"belle of St. Louis society†. Porter Free Essays

Michael five forces model Rivalry among competing Firms: this is usually the most powerful of the five competitive forces. The strategies pursued by one firm can be successful only to the extent that they provide competitive advantage over the strategies of other firms (Grobler 2009) ? Due to China’s incredibly high FDI rate, more and more companies are investing into Chinese businesses and strengthening them in both their domestic markets and also on the global front. With the ever increasing growth of their domestic markets it will only be a short while before they become the dominant market leader, if in this span of 30 years they could rise from nothing to 4th largest in the world then it shows what impact they really had and still have on the global economy. We will write a custom essay sample on Porter or any similar topic only for you Order Now Potential entry of new competitors: whenever new firms can easily enter a particular industry, the intensity of competitiveness among firm’s increases. ?When new firms become strengthened through investments, they become direct competitors of the leaders in that industry. . g. A new Chinese innovation in the television industry grows rapidly, they will be direct competitors against any television firms based in China, for example LG and Sony Bargaining power of consumers: when consumers are concentrated, large or buy in volume their bargaining power represents a major force affecting intensity of competition in an industry (Grobler 2009) ? This goes for actual customers(public) and b2b businesses, because those that buy the larger quantities would get the cheaper rates no doubt, however in China how will that be decided? Will it be their size, market share, sales or Return on capital employed. Potential development of substitute products: in many industries firms are in close competition with producers of substitute products in other industries. ?As mentioned throughout this article, the Chinese have the ability to imitate anything, this factor will never disappear especially if Chinese firms enter European or American markets, how those manufacturers would react to the Chinese developments are unimaginable. Bargaining power of suppliers: the bargaining power of suppliers affects the intensity of completion in an industry, especially when there are large number of suppliers, when there are only a few good substitutes’ raw materials or when cost of switching materials is especially costly (Grobler 2009) Porter’s five forces will only be effective if it is done in a stable environment, it is done to see how attractive the industry is and if it is worth starting a new venture in that environment. Porter’s generic strategies †¢Cost leadership †¢Differentiation †¢Focus Cost leadership: Cost leadership means having the lowest per-unit (i. . , average) cost in the industry that is, lowest cost relative to your rivals. This could mean having the lowest per unit cost among rivals in highly competitive industries, in which case returns or profits will be low but however higher than competitors Or, this could mean having lowest cost among a few rivals where each firm enjoys pricing power and high profits Notice that cost leadership is defined independently of market structure. Differentiation: Differentiating the product offering of a firm means creating something that is perceived industry wide as being unique. It is a means of creating your own market to some extent. There are several approaches to differentiation: †¢Different design †¢Brand image †¢Number of features †¢New technology A differentiation strategy may mean differentiating along 2 or more of these dimensions. Focus: Here we focus on a particular buyer group, product segment, or geographical market. while low cost and differentiation are aimed at achieving their objectives industry wide, the focus or niche strategy is built on serving a particular target (customer, product, or location) very well. Note, however, hat a focus strategy means achieving either a low cost advantage or differentiation in a narrow part of the market. For reasons discussed above, this creates a defendable position within that part of the market. Risks of doing generic strategies Cost leadership †¢Requires continual capital investment because newer innovations cause older creations to become obsolete. †¢When focusing solely on making affordable low cost products, it can cause firms to be blinded to product changes that are needed. Ie. Quantity over quality †¢When costs do begin to increase it narrows the differences between competitors and advantage is ultimately lost For China, the main risk that would affect them the most is when focusing solely on quantity, especially because of their expertise in manufacturing they could lose sight of changes that need to be done to better sales. However, China does have the leading number of RD departments, even though they might not be as innovative as the Japanese or South Koreans, they have the ability to imitate anything they produce which is why they play a major role in globalization, they can imitate anything except fresh air as they say. Differentiation Customer loyalty becomes too large to hold because of the cost differentiation between low cost firms and differentiating firms. †¢The consumer or buyer’s need to differentiate falls away because of price increases. †¢Imitation decreases perceived differentiation This area is where China are dominant, because they have the influence of causing differentiation to fail, because if the product looks the same, and does the same thing, then why would they ever go for the more expensive, and thus Chinese markets prosper because economies of scale have brought their price down dramatically. This is also when manufacturers have to start looking for alternative suppliers because they now have to compete with China which is not an easy task, and in doing so, it almost definitely forces them to go global. Focus †¢When companies market to niches only they already take the risk of not completely satisfying a demographic segment and with other companies finding alternatives ways to better their market share eg. FDI or RD labs, they face the risk of dissolving. On its own focus strategy’s should not be attempted by almost any kind of company, its main purpose is to satisfy a small group of consumers at a time, and if this is not the aim of the business then they are going to fall extremely short on their company vision. Employ Principles Of Sustainable Development-Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Employ Principles Of Sustainable Development? Answer: Introducation There is absolutely no doubt that engineering forms the basic part of the day to day life in a society. From the research, I realized that engineering as a profession has an intrinsic influence on the society. The space that exists between engineering and the society involves many parties such as other engineers, clients, employers, and the public at large thus there is a great role and responsibility that exists for the purposes of ensuring smooth execution of design projects. Besides, an engineer has an incentive to the effective development of the codes as well as the application of codes(Rogers, 2012, p. 633).This I was able to justify by some roles that engineers play including Engineers roles, responsibilities and the need to employ principles of sustainable development: Research-from the research I was able to find that an engineer has the responsibility of conducting a variety of research purposefully to seek innovative principles and processes. This they do to identify the various loopholes that exist in the human life so as to provide a suitable solution to them. There are a variety of ways that they partake this including inductive reasoning, conducting experiments and also employing mathematical and scientific concepts(American Society of Civil Engineers, 2011, p. 858).Besides, I learnt that an engineer has the role of applying the results obtained from the research done to useful purposes. By doing this, new technologies are realized for instance fresh industrial machines, gadgets and other electronic circuits(Vallero, 2008, p. 487). An engineer is greatly involved in the designing of a product by selecting appropriate methodologies and materials guided by the various engineering principles and requirements to meet performance specification and Construction. An engineer has the role of preparing the site and formulating the procedures which will yield the desired quality in an economical manner. Besides the engineer is responsible for assembling and placement of both the required materials, equipment and personnel(Johnston, 2009, p. 844).Also, I did realize that is responsible for providing the selection of equipments and plant layout while putting into consideration the human and economic factors .furthermore, the engineer provides integrates the selected tools, materials and process for testing and inspection. To add on that I did realize that an engineer is responsible for the provision of safe operation and control of machines, plants, power, transportation, and communication. The engineer regulates the system procedures and oversees workforces to achieve consistent and cost-effective operation of multi-faceted equipment(Nottingham, 2009, p. 765). I also discovered some responsibilities that engineers are tasked with including Management and other functions in that they are responsible for analyzing the customer needs recommending the best economical solution to them. For instance In U.S.A and Japan. They also determine how assets are to be utilized and help in Problem solving process by providing a solution to the society. The problems may be of various nature, such as physical or economic and it's the work of the engineer to analyse the overall matter. The engineer should then categorically simplify the situation and come up with a design solution that will be of success(Unesco, 2010, p. 834). There is also the aspect of Decision-making involved with engineers where I came to understand that Besides making technological advances, an engineer is also tasked with the responsibility of ensuring such progress improve the welfare of humans. By employing knowledge, skill, and the distinctive role in society, an engineer must be concerned with the outcomes of technological developments including its impacts both socially, economically and environmentally. Thus he is keen on the creativity and decision-making that will be of overall benefit and not negative impacts. After doing the research on the roles played by engineers in the society, I later came to an interesting part concerning sustainability in engineering and the various ethical values needed in an engineering field. I realized that Sustainability in engineering refers to the process of designing technological systems in a manner that they consume resources and energy in a more sustainable or ecological manner and at a rate which does not compromise the natural environment and possibility of future generations to satisfy their requirements(Pearson, 2007, p. 552). Currently, a larger percentage of the world depends on non-renewable sources of energy generation which in the sustainability aspects are environmentally hazardous. For example the burning of coal. With the increase in demand for energy, sustainable solutions should be provided which is geared towards protecting the environment. One way is by investing more in the solar energy using the solar modules. It is estimated that solar energy has a greater potential when fully tapped such that an area of 250000 square miles could meet the worlds energy needs. Besides, converting households waste into energy is also another way of promoting engineering sustainability(Harding, 2011, p. 330). I realized that exhibiting ethical values and practising them is one of the key aspects towards the development of any organization. Some two key values I found having a direct impact on the way one lives and work are; Trustworthiness a trustworthy person is one that is reliable, keeps promises and has the integrity that will be best desired by any organization Fairness a person who is fair will always be ready to listen to others and doesnt lay blames therefore in situations of ethical conflict they will always look for a solution rather than being rigid in opinion. Managing information and documentation During the research, I realized that Information sharing is key when it comes to teamwork. Since the internet has become an integral part of life, it is more appropriate to consistently use social media platforms such as Skype, electronic mails or even What Sapp groups to share information to each member so that one does not lag behind. While doing documentation, I critically analyzed the various measures which could help enhancing information documentation and management and some of the best measures I came across are creating of files by collecting and naming data in an organized manner i.e. by creating folders, separating completed and ongoing tasks, reviewing records and also naming folders appropriately in a manner meaningful to every team member(Crawley, 2014, p. 212). Additionally, I realized that to ensure that all members work on the recent version of a document can be managed by some means including Using a revision numbering system for instance, minor changes in a folder can be specified by use of decimals i.e. v02-01 shows minor changes done on the first version, v06-01 shows a minor change is done on the sixth version. The inclusion of version control table to any significant document by noting the dates or changes alongside the version number. Members can also decide on who to do the finals and mart them as final(Kramer, 2017, p. 542). Effective communication: Finally, as I concluded my engineering research, I appreciated the value of effective communication. I realized that the success of any teamwork depends on the way information is shared. Hence, I was able to note down some of the effective communication approaches which are essential for any organization. These approaches include oral communication, written communication, presentation skills and professional communication. I came to appreciate that when one provides an audible and simple oral presentation, the team members will be able to comprehend the message being passed across, besides the kind of presentation skills and a bit of professionalism in the presentations are also key. I realized that keeping information professional and in a sound manner that respects the privacy and appreciates the team members is very significant in the development of an organization. I thus considered two examples of case study emails, one being an example of appropriate email shared to group member while the other is one which is unprofessional(Ludden, 2008, p. 732). I sincerely take this moment to express my gratitude to the effort you have placed in leading the current project. It is evident you have sacrificed a lot and it is no doubt you are an inspiration to the members by getting the best out of their skills and talents. Most of them have conveyed their indebtedness to me as well for the supervision and guidance you have provided them. From my evaluation on your projects benchmarks, I must agree that your great effort is being rewarded in concrete results. I am so delighted to see your governance yielding such success! You have indeed demonstrated your determination as a self-same brilliant team leader, and it is my anticipation to witnessing the course in which you will take your forthcoming tasks. This is the last time I am reminding you to submit the reports on the project, the deadline has elapsed and most of you are still not cooperating. If you will not submit the reports by today let none of you blames me. References American Society of Civil Engineers, E., 2011. Government Morality free essay sample

An essay on moral conduct of governments with special consideration to Glenn Tinders book entitled Political Thinking: The Perennial Questions and Niccolo Machiavellis The Prince. Political theorists over time have attempted to answer the question of whether governments should be under the same moral limits as individuals. This paper examines the theories and opinions of two writers by looking at their literature. These opinions are presented and compared. Political theorists over time have attempted to answer the question of whether governments should be under the same moral limits as individuals. Some men have attacked this question at its very core, and there they face another question. What is moral law, and how is it formed? Other philosophers have pondered the extent of limits on power in general, and some have entertained ideas of a government without limits and a society with an abundance of limits. Through discussion of all these aspects, it remains unclear whether governments should be held under the same moral code as the individuals that it rules and represents. Medieval Jousting.

Medieval Jousting. Jousting was all about the skillful use of the lance while riding a fast moving horse. This was in recognition of the mounted knights most formidable weapon, the massed charge of lance equipped armored horsemen. It was this tactic that had defeated the Roman legions, Viking raiders, and just about every foe encountered. These charges sometimes failed, but that was rare. Anyone on the receiving end of these attacks could simply count themselves lucky if they survived. Until the 11th century, knights used their spears like swords, for thrusting, not as what we now think of as lancers. The joust was an idealized form of knightly combat that rarely occurred on the battlefield. In a joust, two knights charged each other, armed with a lance, the object being to use the lance to unhorse one's opponent. No doubt this event became the premier tournament event because of the dramatic effect of two mounted knights in full armor charging each other at full speed.English: Jousting at the Bristol Renaissance Faire...The earliest tournament jousts simply had two groups of knights chase each other over an open area, called the lists, attempting to unhorse each other with a lance, sword, simply fancy riding. The lists covered an area that might be as large as several hundred acres, and the joust might involve over a hundred knights on each side. This was a very rough game. Deaths were common and ten percent or more of the participants might be injured. During this period, knights began to wear additional padding under their armor as protection from the blows from blunted swords and the falls from their horses. During the 12th century, it became more common to have knights go one on one in jousts. These were pretty simple affairs. The two knights, separated by 100-300 yards of open space,
